scars
I believe that scars are involuntary tattoos. It’s a permanent mark, a sign of your past that you had no control over.
I have two scars that mean a lot to me, although I first thought they were ugly. One is a round scar I got from road rash as I fell into the Italian streets trying to catch the bus to the airport. A sign that I barely escaped Italy’s allure and a momento to carry everywhere.
The other scar is a diagonal line down my left wrist given to me by my furry 4 pound daughter when she was a baby. It’s a myth that bunnies like to be picked up and I have the scar to prove it.
